What do you do and why do you do it? What makes it so special to you?
I make beautiful Wedding Cake Toppers out of porcelain clay. Being a trained potter, a friend asked if I would make a Wedding Cake Topper for her wedding, I thought it was a lovely idea. When I researched the products that were available on the internet, I realised that there was a gap in the market for stylish and bespoke cake toppers that had a vintage feel.
For our wedding in 2016, I made all our guests personalised Wedding Favours so that they could take something beautiful away with them to hang up in their home and always remember what a special day our wedding was. I decided to add this into my wedding range which has been a great success.
This winter I have been working on hand-thrown personalised breakfast ware which I shall be launching at Chosen's Spring Wedding Fairs 2018!
What is your unique selling point? What makes you stand out from the crowd?
My Wedding Cake Toppers are hand-made to order, a unique design by an established potter and after the wedding an heirloom to pass down the generations. How special would it be to have had one of these passed down from your parents or grandparents?
Why do you think brides and grooms find that so special?
Couples love an element of 'something different' to make their wedding day stand out and be remembered, and guests always look out for the little touches of uniqueness. It's the little touches that make everyone feel like they are at a special wedding.
What sort of questions do you find that couples often ask you?
Couples are amazed that the pieces are handmade and so are keen to add their own quirkiness, I often get asked if they can add their own features.
And what do you tell them?
Yes! I ask for photo's of the couple, their colours and styles of clothes, hair, skin and any other unique features.
What do you think is the hardest part of planning a wedding?
Making time to get the little details thought of.
What do you find the most rewarding part of your job?
Tell us a little about the process you go through with couples - how do you start? why do you feel that makes for a great partnership?
For the Wedding Cake Toppers, I ask couples to email me some photo's of themselves, their outfits and their colour scheme so that I get a feel of the wedding. During the making process , if I have any questions, I like to keep in touch and be able to discuss details with my customers.
If you could give couples planning their wedding one piece of advice - what would it be?
Be true to yourselves.
Anything else you would love to tell people about you?
For anyone wanting to get dirty on their hen do, I also do hen parties! With my expertise come and learn to throw a pot on the potters wheel in the gorgeous Welsh countryside. It's not just great fun, it's also a great gift to give your hens their handmade pot back on the wedding day during the gift giving and speeches.
